Bremer Geschichtenhaus

Museum and history sound like the most boring combination to you? Then get ready for the Bremer Geschichtenhaus in the quaint old Schnoor-quarter! Experience living history and meet Bremen’s most famous characters. The Bremer Geschichtenhaus is a museum you can touch, hear, smell, taste, and join in.

In the Bremen Story House, performers take you on a journey through time. They bring three centuries of Bremen’s history to life, from the mid-17th century to the early 20th century. The historical costumes and personal stories of Bremen’s famous characters make figures like the cooper master, Heini Holtenbeen, the captain, Fish-Lucie, and many more come alive.

The Exhibition

As soon as you step through the door, the interactive tour begins. Each guided journey through the exhibition is live and always a little different, which means not all stations are visited in every tour. The exhibition encompasses an old coffe-house, the office of a Bremen merchant as well as stories of the plague and the cathedral fire. Of course, the Bremen Town Musicians, as true Bremen celebrities, are not to be missed

The Initiative

The Bremer Geschichtenhaus is a unique German project for long-term unemployed participants, created by the bras e.V. association. Under professional guidance, the performers learn the basics of acting, train their voice and text delivery, and develop stage presence. The positive feedback from the audience helps pave the way for a return to the workforce
